  1. I went to an anti-flock gathering for my county last night. A few things of note. This might be one of the true unifying moments between far-left and far-right Americans in many years. I personally don’t subscribe to either political party, but certainly feel like one has done more damage. I try to keep this site as non-political as I can.

    I found the meeting slightly disorganized, but still beneficial and unifying. Ultimately my research shows that the constitutional argument that Republicans are relying on hasn’t worked in most public meetings to fight ALPRs. ALPRs (or LPRs) are AI-powered cameras that capture and analyze images of all passing vehicles. The meeting started with a prayer, and a pledge of allegiance which I found incredibly odd, but it was hosted at an American Legion so I quickly forgave it.

    I’d say it was a mix between all out conspiracy theorists, and regular people looking to change policy. I was handed a printout from an email chain (with the email addresses cropped from the first page) that really went deep on the conspiracy theories. Including but not limited to Epstein being a co-opted Mossad agent, Peter Thiel owning Flock, a “Digital Kill Chain”, and more. I don’t have the time nor the inclination to verify such facts. I simply don’t want them attached to a campaign that should simply be about not wanting our county to be actively monitored without warrants.

    One of the big challenges when working with older folks on important issues will be avoiding the misinformation social media is actively spreading, as well as technology itself. Now I’m not saying I don’t believe there are heinous organized efforts in this country to monitor private citizens. I just want our focus to be on effectively obtaining the numbers we need to petition ALPRs.

    I hope the group welcomes me as an outsider that is relatively new to the area, and allows me to help direct them toward proven success using the framework easily available on deflock. More to come soon.
